How Obama will make policy without passing a law.

This email comes from a group called CREDO ACTION. One of the many liberal left wing organizations that are promoting our fast track to Socialism. George Soros is one of the supporters of this group.
Please read their information to see how they plan on getting the EPA to put oil and coal companies out of business.

Dear Friend,
For decades, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Clean Air Act have played an indispensable role in protecting public health.
Today, their ability to do so is under siege from both Republicans and Democrats in congress — and in the wake of the State of the Union speech, the President's commitment to defending the EPA is looking none-too-strong.
The EPA is accepting comments until January 31st on their proposed timeline for issuing rules to limit pollution from power plants and petroleum refineries — some of the nation's oldest and dirtiest pollution sources — which account for 40% of all U.S. global warming pollution.
Commenting on a timeline may seem a bit wonky, but in the face of mounting pressure from Congress, it's crucial that we encourage the EPA to issue these rules on time and without delay.
The current threats to the EPA are myriad.
Senators like Jay Rockefeller and a sobering number of his fellow Democrats are floating proposals to delay for two years the EPA's authority to regulate global warming pollution.
The new Republican congress, elected by unprecedented campaign contributions from polluters in the oil and coal industries, and led by new Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton of Texas, have set their sights much higher. They are already working to strip the EPA of its climate authority altogether, and generally hamstring EPA's ability to regulate big polluters. Even, or especially, if it means threatening the EPA's funding. Going even further, Newt Gingrich has called for abolishing the EPA entirely.
President Obama meanwhile is clearly feeling the pressure. His State of the Union address included only a passing reference to protecting our air and water, and glaring omissions of climate change, the EPA or even the BP oil disaster.
It is tragic that in the face of rapid escalation of climate change and the occurrence of extreme weather events, not only will congress take no action to address climate pollution; they are actively working to undermine the agency with the greatest ability to make a difference.
Over the next two years, it will largely be up to us to save the EPA's ability to protect us from dangerous pollution. Let's send a strong message of support right now.
Thanks for standing up for the EPA.

A clear understanding of what the FED is doing printing money

If you are not an educated economist from Harvard, Yale, Brown or any of the other elite liberal arts schools in the US you may be like me and not understand what the FED is doing printing so much money.

States may declare bankruptcy

This article appeared in the NY Times on Jan 20th. It is reported that some states are in such dire straights they have approached Congress to determine if and how they could declare bankruptcy. What this means is that if this is allowed those states that go through with bankruptcy would alleviate their responsibility to pay  retiree pension and health care benefits.
States are not allowed to appeal to the Federal Government for relief in bankruptcy since all states are "sovereign". The Constitution will be tested once again. If states are not allowed to declare bankruptcy then you know they will be asking for additional handouts from the Feds to bail them out once again. If this happens we will see a real political uprising not to mention that the deficit will continue to climb out of sight.

City of Greenville salaries

Folks,
If you remember I sent a letter to Mayor Knox White a couple of weeks ago (see my post below) requesting information about the salaries and benefits of all city employees.

I did receive a response from the City of Greenville requesting information on salaries, benefits, and retirement benefits for all city employees to include elected officials.
I received the attached letter from the City Manager's office. I did not receive any information regarding retirement benefits but will request that.
I did receive a list of each position in the city and the pay scale of that position. I have attached two schedules. I received a list of each employee making under $50,000 and one for those making over $50,000. The Freedom of Information Act apparently requires municipalities to make a distinction between the two salary brackets.
I have included only two pages of each schedule.
The city pays for 75% of the employees health care plan, including part time employees.
Full time city employees are required to participate in the SC Retirement System or the South Carolina Police Officers System. The withholdings are transferred to the state pension program. Fire Fighter's retirement system is separate. Firemen participate in the Greenville Firemen's Pension Fund.  The letter did not state how this pension fund is funded. I will ask for clarification.

.
I encourage each of you to investigate in your own towns the salaries/benefits of your local city employees. Many of these employees, if not all, have guaranteed pension plans that can equal or come close to equalling the full time pay the employee received while working. How many of you have a pension plan that has that guarantee? The media is finally reporting on the financial liability that cities/states have for these obligations and in many cases the obligation is unfunded. The state of SC alone (accruing to the Comptroller Generals' office) has an unfunded liability of $23 Billion. That is correct.......$23 Billion. That is up from $15 Billion just a few years ago. Who do you think is going to pay for those pensions in the future?
I will post the letter as soon as I figure out how to get it on this blog.

Organizing for America is busy

I am on the email list for "Organizing For America". I think it is wise to see what the enemy is up too. If the Republicans want to keep winning elections and keep their fans informed they need to learn from the Obama team. This organization is probably funded with tax payer dollars although that would be difficult to prove. As the Republicans push to repeal ObamaCare the Democrats and all of the other left wing organizations they control are busy trying to stop it. Read on:

Organizing for America
Jerry --

House Republicans are moving forward to repeal all provisions of health reform, with a final vote scheduled for next week.

If they get their way, insurance companies will once again have the right to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, drop or limit coverage if you become sick, and charge women higher premiums than men. Seniors will lose critical prescription drug savings and free preventive care under Medicare.

It's sad but not surprising.

The motivations here have little to do with good policy. Repeal is just the first agenda item of a new Republican majority that is much more interested in appeasing their right-wing base and looking out for special interests than working together to create jobs and grow the economy.

Behind the scenes, insurance-industry lobbyists are working overtime with Republicans to take us back to the days when their clients were able to do whatever they wanted.

But this movement is different. We don't take our cues from special interests or lobbyists, and we never will. We don't take their money either, relying solely on support from folks like you -- and it only makes us stronger.

Right now, Organizing for America is putting together a team of dedicated organizers and volunteers to defend our progress, stop repeal, and expose the Republican plan for what it really is.

Please donate $3 or more to help protect our progress -- and stop the repeal of health insurance reform.

We fought to pass the Affordable Care Act because it was the right thing to do.

Its provisions are fair, reduce the deficit by more than $230 billion over the next 10 years, cut costs, and protect all Americans from the worst insurance industry abuses. The law is already making a difference in people's lives.

Among other provisions, the Affordable Care Act:

    -- Prevents insurers from raising premiums by double digits with no recourse or accountability;
    -- Requires insurers to spend 80 to 85 percent of premium dollars on health care, not CEO bonuses -- and if they don't, they have to provide you a rebate;
-- Frees families from the fear of losing their insurance, or having it capped unexpectedly, after an injury or illness; and
-- Prohibits insurance companies from discriminating against pregnant women or denying coverage to children born with disabilities.

The Republican alternative at this point consists of a two-page addendum to the two-page repeal bill. It's a plan to make a plan to have a plan.

Even without a coherent proposal, they won't have trouble raising money to drum up support for repeal. Republicans' close relationship with entrenched interests has benefited them in campaigns that did not begin -- and will not end -- with health reform.

But we're fighting back with everything we've got -- building a large-scale, grassroots effort to stop this repeal and protect our progress. Your support will fund the organizing that generates calls to Congress, neighborhood canvasses, and letters in our local papers.

Together, we'll make sure our message is heard and understood: We stand by health reform and will not tolerate attempts to put insurance companies back in charge.

Donate $3 or more to fight repeal and protect our progress:

A letter to AARP

I am reposting this from an acquaintance who wrote to the AARP. I urge you to read it and pass it on to anyone you know who is considered a senior or a near senior. I dropped my membership to AARP when they supported "Hillary Care". They stayed the course by supporting "Obama Care".
Read on:

This was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP.

THIS LADY NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF 'THE SITUATION' BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it's abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our 'house', invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

I DON'T choose to welcome them.

I DON'T choose to support them.

I DON'T choose to educate them.

I DON'T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.

American home invaders get arrested.

Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get?

Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America . Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you.

I am disappointed as hell.

I am scared as hell.
I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!
